To the Tamil Politicians who intend to contest in the Local Govt. Elections
1. During the last election, there were approximately over 300 people who
contested the election for six MP seats. (Similar to over 300 dogs
fighting for six bones.) This is an indication of the illiterate minds
of the Tamil politicians. Therefore, let us be clear on the Local government
elections. What have you got to offer to the people and the country?
2. Will you be honest in discharging your duties as a public servant and
not be involved in Bar license issues, influencing for position for your
relatives?
3. Will you promote your party politics, however, discharge your duties for
the people as a public servant?
4. Advise the people before elections as to what you can offer the people
in terms of progress.
5. Will you guide the people on proactive progressive work such as fishing,
agriculture, technical and computing?
6. Will you promote caste differences but collective solidarity for the
unity of the town, village or municipality?
7. Will you promote separatism, but unity? Do you think people with “Tamil
Arasu” ideology are fit to contest local government elections?
8. Will you support bribery and corruption, but be free from such evils?
9. Will you encourage people to be involved in chicken farms, coconut
plantations and backyard agriculture by the people?
10. Do you
consider that politicians must actively engage with their constituents to
understand their needs and concerns? This involves attending community
meetings, holding public forums, and maintaining open lines of communication.
11. Do you agree that you will be responsible for ensuring
the provision of essential public services such as education, healthcare,
sanitation, and public safety by advising the Central government? This includes
managing budgets and resources effectively.
12. Do you believe
in politicians creating and enforcing laws and regulations that address
specific issues within their communities? This can include zoning laws,
environmental regulations, and public health policies.
13. Will you play
a crucial role in promoting local economic development by supporting small
businesses, attracting investments, and creating job opportunities within the
local government area?
14. Will you maintain transparency and accountability in your
actions and decisions? This includes being open about their policies,
decisions, and use of public funds.
15. Will you promote social cohesion and social equity and not create
divisions among political parties and people of different visions?
