Leadership Vacuum among
the Tamils in Lanka
Engr. Kanthar Balanathan
Let us Tamils go back to the 40s. In 1833 the British
Government merged the three kingdoms as one country called Ceylon. No
one opposed. In 1929 SWRD Bandaranaike suggested a federal form of government
to which the Tamils opposed. None of our then politicians called for any disagreement
or resistance. In 1947 SJV Chelvanayagam was elected and was sitting in the
State Council representing the Tamils. He did not raise any idea of the Federal
State government in SL. However, after independence, he was elected to the SL parliament.
He formed the Federal Party and commenced the ethnic issues and division among
the Sri Lankan races. Amirthalingam had a stone head with no brain blindly
supporting SJVC. Most of the FP members followed SJVC without analysing the
pros and cons. Most Tamil Congress members were focused on development. However,
after GGP, Tamil politics entered an economic catastrophe.
With Vellupillai Prabakaran’s entry into separatism, the
country was flourished with turmoil, commotion and debt. Srimavo unlocked up
her arms to China’s entry in the 70s. China knows how to fool politicians with
collateral loans etc.
If we study the characteristics of Tamil politicians, the Tamils
enter into politics with only one motive, which is to become rich.
With the birth of the Northern Provincial Council governance,
Tamils had hope. However, the ministers who ran the ministries started their
eagerness to practice their corrupt policies. The Chief Minister had to remove
them from their portfolio.
The Environmental Minister allowed the hospitals and garbage
disposal units to drop the waste at Kallundai. This was the state of affairs in
the North from 2013 to the day the PC was abolished.
SINCE 1948 WE CAN SEE ONLY ONE GOOD HONEST POLITICIAN AMONG
THE TAMILS WHICH IS JUSTICE CV VIGNESWARAN ONLY.
What CVV needs is to have an Economics expert and a
Technological expert beside him for suggestions and advise.
In the forthcoming Provincial Council election in, maybe
2022, Tamils should nominate Justice CV Vigneswaran for the Chief Minister
position. CVV shall have the specialists as his ministers within the portfolio.
The Technological specialist could be an expert in technical, Agrarian, or
Fishing areas and the second one could be an economic specialist.
There is no one else who can run the NPC with honesty, dedication
other than justice CV Vigneswaran.
Tamils shall think whom they need to elect. Do they
need corrupt practice, bribery and corruption OR honesty?
